Inaugural Career Discovery Week at 60 Wall office
Deutsche Bank hosts 150 students to cultivate learning and inspiration for the next generation of leaders.
Deutsche Bank Americas’ CEO Christiana Riley helped kick off NYC’s inaugural Career Discovery Week at 60 Wall, in collaboration with the Partnership for New York City and the New York City Department of Education. 150 tenth graders and teachers were welcomed to the bank for a firsthand look at what it’s like to work for a global institution.
Over 180 major employers across NYC participated to provide meaningful exposure to company worksites, industry knowledge and career opportunities; schools in underserved communities, where students face barriers to creating strong relationships with employers, were prioritized.
As part of CSR Americas’ commitment to youth engagement, students practiced speed networking, participated in a career panel by the bank’s Multicultural Partnership Black Leadership Forum and were introduced to key topics—such as AI, cybersecurity, fintech and ESG—that are shaping the future of work.
“In celebration of Deutsche Bank’s 150th anniversary, we were delighted to utilize our resources to provide on-site, experiential learning for students to better understand the diverse careers and breadth of opportunities that the financial services sector has to offer,” said Alessandra DiGiusto, Head of CSR Americas, Deutsche Bank. “This is only the beginning—we look forward to expanding our partnership to reach even more students through career exploration in the years to come.”
Throughout the day, students raised their hands high with enthusiastic and pertinent questions—ranging from the impact of automation and sustainability in banking to the importance of networking and skills development. Employees also served as mentors, focusing discussions on how the financial sector is positioned meet the demands of young talent and adapt to technologies that are transforming the workplace.
Since 2005, Deutsche Bank has been a member of The Partnership for New York City, which represents the largest private sector employers throughout the city. Career Discovery Week builds on the Partnership’s efforts to expand opportunities for New Yorkers by uniting government, labor and nonprofit sectors.
