Frieze New York
Deutsche Bank is proud to renew its fourteen-year engagement with Frieze as the global lead partner for this iconic fair.
Deutsche Bank’s longstanding commitment to identifying and encouraging new artistic talent. Now in its sixth year, Frieze New York has quickly become one of the most anticipated events on the international art agenda.
Deutsche Bank is also proud to support the "Frieze Teens" program, which offers high school students who are interested in contemporary art unparalleled access to the field's inner workings. Participants in this yearlong intensive are selected through a competitive application process. They meet weekly for a total of 28 workshops and site visits with leading artists and industry players. The program culminates at the Frieze Fair, where the teens draw on their newfound knowledge of current practices in the contemporary art world as tour guides for visiting school groups.
Andrea Galvani "The only way to extend a limit is to cross it"
Deutsche Bank recently acquired a series of works by Andrea Galvani, an international Italian-born artist based in New York and Mexico City, and he has been selected to represent our commitment to the arts and culture through an ambitious solo presentation in the Deutsche Bank Wealth Management Lounge at Frieze New York 2017.
Adopting a cross-disciplinary approach that often draws upon scientific methodology, Galvani’s conceptual research informs his use of photography, video, drawing, and installation. His work seems to heighten awareness, articulate and extend the limits of sensory perception. Investigating relationships between fragility and monumentality, his images are visual documents of actions orchestrated on site. Incorporating cutting-edge technology, he pioneers a new conceptual language in the fusion of art and science.
Galvani’s work has been exhibited internationally, including at the Whitney Museum, New York; the 4th Moscow Biennial for Contemporary Art; the Mart Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art of Trento and Rovereto, Italy presented the artist’s first midcareer retrospective in Europe.
