Frieze New York 2013

Now in its second year, Frieze New York has already established itself as a global art destination alongside Frieze London and Frieze Masters. Deutsche Bank has been the lead sponsor of Frieze for the past nine years in London, and sponsored its debut in New York last year.

Held on Randall’s Island, this year’s fair will host a carefully curated selection of over 180 leading contemporary art galleries from 32 countries. Special sections devoted to galleries opened since 2001 (“Focus”) and those featuring the works of a single artist (“Frame”) will be mixed in with some of the world’s most recognizable galleries.

The fair will also present the Frieze Projects program, which invites artists to create specially commissioned projects to be situated throughout the fair. This year’s artists are Liz Glynn, Maria Loboda, Mateo Tannatt, Andra Ursuta and Marianne Vitale. The program will also feature a special tribute to legendary artist-run restaurant Food, originally conceived by Gordon Matta-Clark and Carol Goodden in 1971, and an original text by novelist Ben Marcus.
