Deutsche Bank has successfully arranged a 144 million euro financing facility to support Côte d'Ivoire's "Eau pour Tous" (Water for All) programme. This initiative aims to provide clean drinking water to 97% of the population by 2025, significantly impacting public health and economic growth.
Supporting infrastructure development via export credit facility
The financing structure employed is an export credit facility. This means, Deutsche Bank is providing a loan to the Government of Côte d'Ivoire, which will use the funds to pay for water infrastructure developed by the Mitrelli Group. Atradius Dutch State Business N.V., the Netherlands' export credit agency, guarantees a portion of the loan, mitigating financial risk and enabling development projects in emerging markets.
"Eau pour Tous": Transforming lives through clean water
Launched in 2017, the Water for All programme represents a commitment to improving the lives of millions in Côte d'Ivoire. The first phase, supported by this financing, will see the construction of 95 urban hydraulic systems. These systems, including extensive water networks and water towers, are designed to bring clean water access closer to rural and underserved communities.
Expected impact:
“This financing is a great example of how Deutsche Bank supports critical infrastructure that can help improve lives. By supporting Côte d’Ivoire expand access to clean water, we are playing a role in enabling healthier communities and driving long-term economic development.” Said Alarik d'Ornhjelm, Head of Structured Trade & Export Finance for Middle East and Africa.
