First green bond for UK government

In 2021 we helped the UK government raise £10bn from UK and international investors to fund its Green Financing Programme, through the UK’s first sovereign green bond. This transaction established green gilts as a sustainable source of finance for the UK’s most urgent environmental priorities.

We’re playing our part in the transition to a sustainable and climate-neutral economy by helping companies in the UK access the finance they need to transform their businesses. The sustainability-linked loan we arranged for British Airways aims to accelerate greener air travel through incentives that reward fuel efficiency and reductions in carbon emissions.
